Hello from the “Horse Capital of the World” -- Lexington, KY. I am Paula Wehrly and my daughter Michelle is a junior at Northern Kentucky University. Michelle will be Panhellenic President for 2014 and loves sorority life and NKU. I lived most of my life near San Francisco, Calif., graduated from SJSU in the mid 80’s and I was not a member of a sorority in college. I am a 60’s kid that you would more likely find at a café in Berkeley sipping coffee then at a football game and knew little about sororities and fraternities. Fast forward 30 years, and my oh my how my perspective has changed, but more about that in future blogs. I have been married for over 25 years to my wonderful husband Greg and Michelle is our only child. I work as a recruiting manager for a Fortune 500 company and love my job. Although we now call Kentucky home we are die hard San Francisco Giant’s and 49er fans. I am looking forward to sharing my thoughts and insights about being a sorority parent.

Greetings from Atlanta. My name is Lisa and I joined Zeta Tau Alpha in 1986 at Auburn University (War Eagle!). I was what I will call a "slacker Zeta" during my collegiate years, but I have been a very active alumna as a participant in my local alumnae chapter, local housing corporation president at our chapter at Georgia Tech, new advisor at Georgia State University, local Panhellenic delegate and the ZTA Race For the Cure representative. My daughter is a rising sophomore at Auburn (and not a ZTA - I will blog about that) and my husband is a Col and active reservist in the United States Air Force. I look forward to blogging about my experiences as a parent.

Hi! I am Jane Heiserman. I pledged Pi Beta Phi at UCLA way back in the '70's. I have served in several positions as a national officer for Pi Phi, my favorite being Director of Fraternity Education. I belong to an "NPC family" - my mom is an Alpha Chi Omega, my sister is a Pi Phi, I have a Kappa Kappa Gamma niece, a Pi Phi niece, and my daughter was the president of the Pi Phi chapter at U.C. Berkeley during the time I was blogging. As we have moved about the country, I have been a member of 5 fun and supportive alum clubs, and am currently a member of the Southlake, Texas Alumnae Club (selected as Ideal Club at our last convention!).

Greetings from the heart of the Midwest! We are Susan and Joe Ruch of Frankfort, Indiana, and our daughter Maddy is a freshman at Ball State University (BSU) beginning the next chapter of her life. Maddy, who is Joe's daughter from his first marriage, is attending BSU to study nursing. I graduated from Ball State in 1982 and Joe is a 1981 graduate of Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana. Neither of us were members of Greek-letter organizations during our college years. We have been married for seven years. I am a small business lender at a local bank, and Joe is a purchaser for a bolt manufacturing company. We are very involved in our children's lives. In addition to Maddy, there are three others - Kyle is 26 (Sigma Chi), Emily is 24 (Zeta Tau Alpha) and Mackenna is 13. As you can see this is not our first exposure to college fraternities and sororities. However, we feel we will learn even more about what it is all about through this experience. Joe and I love to travel, attend our kids sporting events (tennis, volleyball, basketball and track) and enjoy fires on our patio with family and friends. We are also very involved in our church. Our family loves sports and we are IU, Cardinal (St. Louis and Ball State) and Colts fans. Well, Joe is a Packer's Cheesehead, I am the Colts Fan. We look forward to this adventure.

My name is Burgess Trank. I am the father of a wonderful young lady now attending TCU. Her mother and I have been married more than 20 years, and have been blessed in many respects. I am a semi-retired attorney and real estate investor in Austin, Texas. I am a graduate of Rice University (1971) and the University of Houston Law Center (1974). My professional career has been spent in the residential real estate business. Our daughter, Meredith, is our only child and has been a pure joy her entire life. While I adore and admire my daughter, I am not an indulgent or lenient parent. I believe Meredith has developed a mature sense of responsibility and a strong work ethic, and I look forward to blogging about her experience, as I see it, as she enters the realm of sorority membership. Neither I, nor my wife, have background in sorority or fraternity life, but we know from Meredith’s experience with other organized social groups that she will benefit from membership.
